Centre City (Birmingham)
A few words about the project
The Centre City building on Hill Street in Birmingham city centre is one of the iconic buildings on the Birmingham skyline. Its position between the glass clad Radisson tower and the world famous shopping centre the Bull Ring allows it to stand tall amongst different generations of architecture. This landmark building has served the business community since the Birmingham tower block serge in the 1960's.
The refurbishment was performed on all WC's and circulation areas over the 6 floors 7-13. We had previously supplied the tiles for floors 3 and 4 late last year but felt we would prefer to wait until we had more to report on. Bruntwood employed a local Birmingham based architectural practice to do the detail and schedule the finishes including commercial tiles for a muted look in the WCs which now offer a modern, sophisticated appearance in keeping with the vision Bruntwood see for their Midlands presence.
Using Large format Tiles on the wall and custom fabricating the skirting's this minimal design has a great impact. By using the large format tiles it opened up the space they were used in, there is less grout joints ensuring the vision of less clutter and more freedom come through.
